The History of ROTC: The United States Army ROTC Program started in the school year 1919/1920 with about 100,000 high school students divided about equally between the junior division in high schools and senior division in colleges and universities. Since World War II the ROTC Program has been strengthened, with more schools participating in Junior ROTC. At the present time there are over 1,800 high schools and military institutes participating in the Army JROTC Program.
The History of North Bullitt High School Army JROTC: North Bullitt High School was built in 1976 and shortly thereafter the North Bullitt Eagle Battalion was activated in July, 1984. The Eagle Battalion was established by the first Senior Army Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Barry Lambert and the first Army Instructor Master Sergeant (Retired) Richard Mitchell. With Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Lambert retiring in the summer of 2001, Major (Retired) Kevin Clark became the second Senior Army Instructor in February 2002. Due to a serious illness, Master Sergeant Mitchell medically retired November 2002 and First Sergeant (Retired) Mark Firestone became the second Army Instructor in April 2003. With First Sergeant (Retired) Firestone retiring at the end of the 2014/2015 school year, First Sergeant (Retired) Gene Siler became the third Army Instructor since the activation of our JROTC program here at North Bullitt High School in July 2015. On 1 January 2019, Major (Retired) Kevin Clark retired as the second Senior Army Instructor in the history of the Eagle Battalion. On February 6th, 2019 Colonel (Retired) Todd Wilson was hired as the third Senior Army Instructor for the Eagle Battalion where he served as the third Senior Army Instructor until July 2019. On December 30th, 2019 Lieutenant Colonel Chris Neal became the fourth Senior Army Instructor for the North Bullitt JROTC program. LTC NeaL serve as the fourth SAI until Dec 2020. On Jan 5th, 2021 1SG Eugene Siler was approved to be the 5th Senior Army Instructor for the North Bullitt JROTC program. On Jan 6th, 2021, Master Sergeant Michael Walsh was hired as the 4th Army Instructor for the North Bullitt JROTC program.
The North Bullitt High School Army JROTC Military Staff: The Senior Army Instructor and Army Instructor are responsible for directing and supervising the North Bullitt High School Army Junior ROTC Program. The Senior Army Instructor and the Army Instructor are both retired members of the United States Army, whose employment by the Bullitt County School District has been authorized by the United States Army Cadet Command. Both the Senior Army Instructor and the Army Instructor have been selected for their extensive military experience and for their particular qualifications for this type of duty. Furthermore, both instructors are more than just teachers for the JROTC students taking an active role as mentors, counselors and coaches.

Our Objectives: The objectives of Army JROTC are to develop:
No Military Obligation: Participation in our JROTC program does not in any way cause any student to incur a military obligation whatsoever.

- An appreciation of the importance of physical education and the importance of living a healthy life style.
