Eagle Battalion Events

Every school year our eagle battalion cadets plan, organize and host a wide variety of fun and challenging events.  The events listed are just a few of the annual activities our cadet participate in developing invaluable skills and acquiring lifelong memories.

Land Navigation Field Trip

During the fall semester we teach our students basic and advanced map and compass skills as a part of the JROTC Geography curriculum.  The aforementioned training is pretty much confined to the classroom; however, we take our students to the Camp Crooked Creek Boy Scout Camp where we test their newly acquired skills in an actual field environment.  We also host a wide variety of fun events in addition to the navigation portion of our field trip to help build leadership skills, bolster morale and refine the cohesion process within our JROTC program.

Cadet Day

We began a tradition within the Eagle Battalion in the spring of 2003 by hosting our inaugrual Eagle Battalion Cadet Day.  Much like a “field day”, our Cadet Day consists of a daylong series of competitions where our four platoons compete against one another.  Some of the events include Ultimate Frisbee, Kick Ball, Tug-of-War, Squad Drill Sequence, Communication Obstacle Course Event and an Obstacle Course Event to name a few.  To keep our cadets on their toes we also throw in a mystery event for a good measure.

In addition to the aforementioned competitive events, we also plan to have a number of military equipment static displays and we also invite selected eighteenth graders who have signed up for JROTC for the 2017/2018 school year.  If that weren’t enough, our senior cadets host a pizza party providing an outstanding lunch meal for each and every one of our Cadet Day participants and they also provide every participant with a Cadet Day t-shirt in a distinctive platoon color!

Battalion Awards Ceremony

Annually, we host a battalion awards ceremony where we present literally dozens upon dozens of national awards to deserving cadets within in our JROTC program.

This great event will be held in the Career Readiness Center gym at 8:30 AM and our ceremony should over by 9:15 AM.  Friends, family members and faculty are more than welcome to join us in celebration of the success of outstanding Eagle Battalion cadets who excelled throughout the school year.

Intra-Battalion Drill Competition

Every year we will host an event that we call Intra-Battalion Drill Competition.  Essentially, this event is an internal drill competition where each platoon competes against one another performing a predestinated platoon drill sequence and every squad within our battalion will execute a sequence as well.

We invite active duty recruiters to perform a formal uniform inspection and to evaluate each and every drill sequence throughout our day long competition.  At the end of the day a platoon will be chosen as our “Best Drill Platoon” and we will also select a “Best Drill Squad” too.  In addition to the selection of a platoon and squad winner, we also have an individual award where a cadet will be selected as a “Best Drill Cadet” from each class period.
